La Conner events kicking off 2009

L a Conner is starting 2009 off with a special event at the Historical Society!

The current exhibition, from the Smithsonian Institute, is all about food and on Saturday, January 3rd at 2 PM, Joanne Austin will give an entertaining talk about the most popular New Year’s resolution- loosing weight.

Bring 2 cans of food for the Hamilton Food Bank and get in free!

The Museum of Northwest Art will have an opening reception for the new retrospective exhibition of paintings by Manfred Lindberg and glass sculpture by artist Kait Rhodes. The museum curator will give a talk about the work at 1PM. Refreshments will be served and it should be a festive event! Free to members or $5 at the door.

The La Conner Quilt and Textile Museum has a new exhibition opening January 16th. It’s “Ralli Quilts”, Treasures from Pakistan and India, curated by Patricia Stoddard. She will speak during the reception from 1-3 PM. $10 fee for lecture and tour of the exhibit.

The 3rd floor exhibition, curated by Kathleen Kok, is “All Things Not Quilted”showing “how artists use textiles as both a xource for inspiration and as an avenue for interpretation”.
